Joanne (played by
Lauren Phillips) and her spouse, Nick (acted by
Dick Chibbles), are unwinding for the evening when there's a sudden knock at the door. In a state of distress, Avery (
Paisley Porter), Joanne's goddaughter, rushes into her arms, crying uncontrollably. The police detective accompanying Avery breaks the devastating news - Avery's parents, who were close friends to Joanne and Nick, have perished in a tragic car crash.
Despite not being blood relatives, as Avery's godparents, Joanne and Nick vow to look after her. However, tensions start to rise as Nick grows more uneasy with Avery's constant presence in their home, invading their personal space. Furthermore, her seemingly indifferent attitude towards her parents' demise deeply unsettles Nick.
Convinced that something is amiss with Avery, Nick confides his concerns to Joanne, who asserts that Avery is merely processing her grief in her own way, and they must support her no matter what. While Nick reluctantly agrees, frustrations keep mounting as they struggle to find private moments together without Avery's interruptions. Perhaps now, as Avery steps out briefly, they can seize a rare opportunity for intimacy.
But as passions ignite, are they truly alone?.
